Induction Courses – A Success Story
This is our first attempt in conducting an Induction Course as such it was a bit of uncertainty on whether it will be well received by members. It was indeed refreshing to know that the spirit of Unionism is still alive. The Union decided to conduct Induction Courses in order to provide information and training as well as to know members queries in regards to union issues. After going through 4 induction courses from Kedah right up to Johor, the response from the members were overwhelming.
In fact the moment members knew about these induction courses being held on other areas, members were hoping to know when their turns are going to come. You could see from the photos published in this website that the enthusiasm and appreciation being given by the members were great.
Number of new members enrolling themselves has increased tremendously and we were glad that there were more responses from Ex-SBB staff to extent that Ex-SBB members were more than Ex-BCB members.
We decided to increase Area Committees in all regions that we have gone through. In fact those wanting to be Area Committees were so overwhelming that we decided not to have any election and retain all those who have volunteered. Minimum of 6 Area committees were appointed in order to serve members effectively in their respective regions.
Not to forget the number of new members signing on the same day while attending the courses were quite large. We are proud to say that at the moment the number of members stood at 1036. From the period between July and September, there was an increase of 300 in new members. Most of these new members joined us during the induction courses.
We manage to garner more Group Insurance Scheme applicants from outstation members than on any other given period. Main reason behind this is largely because of personal touch from our insurance agent and understanding of the scheme itself. After realizing the benefit of this scheme together with payment of lower premium, the applications came instantaneously.
