Our final tour of East coast was on 25th July 2009 hi tea with our members in Pahang. As we know that Kuantan was a big state, we manage to rope in some members as far as Karak to come to this session. En Mahmud our area committee from Pahang did all the arrangement for this session and the ambiance of this place is refreshing. We had the area mostly to our self despite Kuantan being a busy place.

It started at 3pm and ended at 6pm and it was quite a long session and we knew it was a good response as no one left the place during these time. Since we were all at one table, we manage to have a good session with our members. There was no boring session so to speak and we receive a lot of queries from our members.

The Pahang members were quite a lively lot and the questions were mainly on the CA and the members were not disappointed with the response from the President and The Secretary. A great detail of the collective agreement queries were made by the members and they did not leave until they were satisfied with the reply. The President had a though time explaining the delay in concluding the CA and requested that members be patient. The secretary further added that the bank has given the undertaking that the arrears will be paid from Jan 2009. As such members should not be unduly worried about on the delay and any conclusion will only be done if the Exco is agreeable with the final proposal.

The Secretary touched on the other areas such as the show cause letter increase for the year 2009 and advised members to be more careful in discharging their duties. He also re instate the commitment of the Exco in resolving most of the show cause issues to the highest level. He also touched on the PIP unit set up by the Bank and advice members to be more proactive in tackling the PIP issues.

Our insurance scheme in Pahang was a success even though we had a small group of members attending the session. The union was quite satisfied with the active participation of members in this scheme. Lately the benefit of this scheme is really felt by members based on the response we get from members.

The whole journey from Kelantan to Terengganu and finally Pahang was a very challenging experience for the Exco and we had a great time reaching out to our members in these areas. Hope the members realize the spirit of unionism that the Exco is trying to instill and the light that we had lid will forever be strong.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to the area committee of Pahang for organizing this function and we will definitely be making further trips to these areas in the near future.
